About Locahl

Locahl is a native desktop app for Windows, macOS, and Linux that helps you edit the system hosts file without fighting the terminal β€” switch environments, flush DNS, and keep automatic backups.

Who we are

We build Locahl, the cross-platform hosts file manager for Windows, macOS, and Linux. Every guide is written by developers who edit the hosts file and flush DNS as part of real local-dev work β€” not by a generic marketing desk.

What we build

Locahl is a one-time-license hosts file manager with a visual editor, environment profiles (dev / staging / prod), one-click DNS flush, and automatic backups. We sell Solo and Team licenses; there is no subscription for the core product.

How we write guides

Blog and guide articles are written by the Locahl team for real local-development workflows. We test commands and UI steps on current Windows, macOS, and Linux releases, cite primary docs when we reference OS tools, and update pages when platform behavior changes. We make Locahl β€” comparisons state that clearly.

Republishing our guides

You may republish an article on DEV, Hashnode, or similar with a clear credit line, as long as the canonical URL points back to the original Locahl page (so search and AI citations consolidate here).
